Two inspirations. One connection. Inspiration 1: The Paika Bidroha of 1817. Inspiration 2: Pipili Applique Handicraft. The common link to both the inspirations in this painting is the state I belong to- Odisha. Two hundred years ago, in 1817, Buxi Jagabandhu led India's first armed rebellion against the British. The expert craftsmen of Pipili weave magic with the cloth based applique designs which is used during festivals and as home decor.
