Description

Sagorika hails from  Ranchi - Jharkhand, India. She pursued her Bachelor's degree from Ranchi University. Art and craft have always been her passion. She wanted to paint everything she saw. Acrylics, watercolors, and pencil sketches are her primary stress. The artist says she has done 4 glass paintings. Sagorika says hows she has improvised herself with time. “There was a time when I’d try to create a human figure but it would look like an alien. But practice built my confidence ” says the budding artist. Sengupta also adds that she uses paper cut-outs, magazine books, and other different art materials for her art and craft.

Sagorika Sengupta had always been inclined towards art, but the motivation from her parents, teachers, and friends helped her set foot in the door. Sagorika's art heavily takes inspiration from India’s culture and mythologies, paired with vibrant colors and intricate symbolism.

 “I believe I am a very colorful person, which is also one thing I want to reflect on in the collages I make. That’s why I use vibrant colors. Things that inspire me the most are the universe and flora, which are also a huge part of my collages,” she describes.

Participating in various platforms and winning awards excites and inspires her a lot. In her artworks, she tries to depict Indian culture and tradition.

While people were struggling to cope with a difficult time during the pandemic lockdown, she extensively focussed on her art skills.

• She participated in several online contests such as an online art exhibition organized by EMK Center, Dhaka, Bangladesh, art exhibition organized by Click India Art Academy.
• She partook in an exhibition organized at Sri Aurobindo Kala Kendra, Ranchi.
• Sagorika won second prize in Smart City Varanasi painting competition.
• Sengupta has also won a special prize in Mellow Art Award 2020, Japan.
• She attends webinars on creating portraits as she entices happiness in the face of the audience by drawing realistic portraits, which eventually helps in boosting up her confidence.
• She has also participated in and won the My NEP Art competition, for which she earned a golden opportunity to be a part of an online meeting with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Sir. 
• Sagorika also has an art book published on the google books platform.
