    Peacock Mandala Art

    HER JOURNEY

An artwork a day keeps the lockdown blues away. This is the funda followed by artist Tarushikha Jain to beat the blues. Born in the beautiful city of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Tarushikha Jain is a contemporary Mandala Artist. She used her skill during the lockdown and created splendid arts on unused papers.

    Her statement

She has even given the project a rather thematic name — The Quarantined Canvas. "In a way, the lockdown comes as a blessing for artists because that's what I want to do always — paint in isolation," shares the Delhi-based artist, stating that she started this project when the Janta Curfew was announced on March 22, 2020.

For a self-taught artist who reaches for the colors and designs to paint or draw as soon as she gets up every morning, the discipline to paint every day comes very easily. For this particular project, she is painting a doodle art of "Lord Mahavir" — Lord Mahavir signifies harmlessness and renunciation, therefore this artwork is named "Tyaag". "The point is that no matter what the situation is, we must hold on to what makes us happy. Mandala Arts makes me happy, so I took this path. I also wanted to encourage fellow-artists so that they can feel inspired and share their work as well," says the 29-years-old.

The response to The Quarantined Canvas on mandala has been amazing and yet, she believes that she hasn't made her best painting yet. She is a dancer as well.’ did something meditative and introspective and just maybe, I made something that looks interesting – but either way, it felt good to let go and just create without judgment," says the Meerut - born with determination. She already has the commitment to do this, as she paints for over a few hours a day.

Her theme for the artwork is 'Peacock Mandala Art'. It took approximately 3days to complete, using Pencil, A2 size sheet, Artist pens. It's valued at Rs 450 (excluding shipping).

"The unique process of creation as well as the inner energies of an individual mandala guarantee that each one is one of a kind. In fact, I have been unable to duplicate either the design or the color choices of a mandala in new work,"  she said.
